Smartphone owners have an array of choice out there when it comes to securing their devices.
Things like pattern, PIN and password locks are all great ways to secure your device, but they all have their own individual flaws.
One of the best ways Samsung users can now secure their device, is to use their fingerprint as a locking mechanism. The process of using it is surprisingly simple, and uses the home button on your Samsung device to register as an unlocking feature. Of course, it can be used in conjunction with other locking systems, but it works the best on its own. Use our steps below to set a fingerprint lock on your Samsung device in just a few minutes.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your Samsung device and scroll down until you find the Lock Screen And Security option within.
Step 2: From this menu, press the Screen Lock Type option listed at the top.
Step 3: The Fingerprints option is listed near the bottom of this menu. Go ahead and press on this to continue.
Step 4: Follow the on screen instructions by playing your thumb on the home button and lifting it off again. Keep doing this in slightly different directions to make sure each part of your thumb is covered and recognised as you set a fingerprint lock.
Step 5: Once you receive the prompt that your fingerprint lock has been set correctly, you’ll need to create a backup password. This is used as a precautionary measure if your Samsung device fails to recognise your phone.
Step 6: After confirming the backup password, you’ll be asked to set the level of notifications you wish to have shown on your lockscreen. This is entirely down to personal preference, so choose whichever one works for you.
After following these steps, you’ll have a fingerprint lock set and completely working on your Samsung device.
